History of National Doctors' Day 2023

National Doctors' Day was established in India in 1991 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, a renowned physician and the second Chief Minister of West Bengal, between 1948 and 1962. He was a personal physician and a close associate of Mahatma Gandhi. In 1942, he joined the Quit India Movement and provided medical aid during the freedom struggle. He also established various hospitals and medical colleges and made significant contributions to healthcare reforms in the country.
